Hospital collaboration

Training the world's doctors beside leading hospitals

We connect hospitals around the world with accredited partner hospitals abroad, so their doctors and nurses can train on site, learn new techniques and bring that knowledge home to their patients.

How it works

From the first request to the first day on the ward

Six steps, one coordinator. Each is agreed in writing before anyone travels.

  1. Step 1 of 6

    Tell us who and what

The doctor or nurse, the specialty, the skills you want to bring home and the dates that suit your hospital.

    Tell us who and what
  2. Step 2 of 6

    We find the host department

We match the request with a partner hospital and a consultant who agrees to supervise, and agree a written programme.

    We find the host department
  3. Step 3 of 6

    Invitation letter and visa

The host hospital issues an official invitation. We list the documents and check the visa file before it is submitted.

    Invitation letter and visa
  4. Step 4 of 6

    Arrival and orientation

Airport pickup, accommodation near the hospital, a hospital badge and a first-day orientation with the department.

  5. Step 5 of 6

    Training and certificate

Daily clinical exposure with weekly reviews. A certificate of attendance from the host hospital at the end.

  6. Step 6 of 6

    Back home, still connected

The trainee stays in touch with the supervisor for case discussions and second opinions once back at work.

Partnership

Good for both hospitals

For referring hospitals

  • Skills your team cannot learn at home yet
  • New services you can open for your patients
  • Fewer patients who must travel abroad for care
  • A specialist to call when a case is difficult

For host hospitals

  • A long-term link with referring hospitals
  • Visiting clinicians who know your standards
  • Teaching and research opportunities
  • We handle the visa, travel and accommodation

Applying

What we need from the trainee

  • Medical or nursing licence
  • CV
  • Letter from your hospital
  • Passport copy
  • Specialty and goals
  • Preferred dates
  • English level

Observerships are hands-off. Supervised hands-on training depends on the host hospital and on recognition of the trainee's licence, and is confirmed in the written programme.

Arranged for you

Everything around the training

  • Invitation letter
  • Visa guidance
  • Airport pickup
  • Accommodation near the hospital
  • Interpreter on request
  • Local SIM card

Partner hospitals and patient records

The partner portal is an operations system: wards and beds, departments, pharmacy stock, staff and payroll, and procurement. It does not hold patient medical records. The only health data that reaches us is a referral, which a hospital sends with the patient's (or guardian's) explicit written consent for that purpose; the hospital records the consent date and scope on the referral and keeps the signed form in the patient's file.

Referral documents are stored encrypted in transit and on a private disk that only our medical team and the referring hospital can open, are shared with the treating hospital abroad only as far as the consent allows, and are deleted 12 months after the referral is closed.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or withdraw a consent you gave. Email support@afrimedicare.com and we answer within 30 days.
